Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.” – John 8:31.
A Christian disciple follows Jesus, becoming more and more like Him through a life of faith and obedience.
Grow as a disciple who makes other disciples to make Jesus known everywhere.

Am I Ready to Disciple?

‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
— Jesus, Matthew 28:18-20

is discipleship
for me?

Discipleship is also known as mentoring someone in their faith. If you are a follower of Jesus, He has commanded you — no matter if you feel worthy or smart enough — to go and make disciples.

If you have placed your faith in Christ, then the Holy Spirit lives within you.
He is your qualification.
Discipleship is for you!

Simply put, disciple-making is about following Jesus and taking others with you. Whether you have been doing this for years or are just getting started, we want to provide biblical, practical help and encouragement for you.

take it in steps

1. Talk with the Cru Staff on your campus. He/She will be able to help you in setting up everything you need to kick off discipleship well

2. Sit down with the person you're wanting to disciple and explain what you hope for your discipleship time. Lay out the expectations you have for the discipleship relationship & time commitment.

3. Create a discipleship plan. There are examples of how to do so below.

Make a plan

It’s important to know what you’re going to do

Below is a sample plan. For each person you disciple, make a chart and plan to follow. Think through how many weeks you have in the semester, start with the first semester of content (in step 4), and plan out when you plan to do content, go sharing, or just spend time together. There are many hats you wear as a discipler: teacher, trainer, friend, accountability partner, encourager, and more! Plan to wear all those hats, not just one.

Now that you’ve seen the example…

  1. download the sample plans

  2. spend time making a plan for you discipleship times (plan at least 6 weeks, but the whole semester is preferable)

  3. schedule dates and type of activities per week (you will fill in specific lessons in step 4)

  4. show your plan to your own discipler and ask for feedback
